Johan van Rooyen Hipermart Centre (“the Centre”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through jvrhiper.co.za, why we collect it and how we protect it, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, subject and message when you send us an enquiry.
- WhatsApp, phone and email: your number or address and whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us directly.
- Leasing enquiries: details you give us when you ask about available units, such as your business name and contact details.
- Technical information: like most websites, our hosting provider and security tools automatically record basic information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site running and secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we only collect what we need.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry or request.
- To deal with leasing and tenant matters you contact us about.
- To keep the website secure and working properly.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Google reviews and other third-party services
Our website shows reviews that customers have publicly posted about the Centre on Google. These are fetched from our own Google Business Profile using Google’s official API and show the reviewer’s public Google name, profile picture, rating and comment as published on Google. We use this connection only to read and display our reviews. If you want your review changed or removed, you can edit or delete it on Google at any time, and our website will update automatically.
Our pages also use Google Maps (to show our location) and a WhatsApp chat button. When you use these, Google or WhatsApp (Meta) may process information under their own privacy policies:

Cookies
Our website uses cookies that are needed for it to work and stay secure. Embedded services such as Google Maps may also set their own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then not work properly.
Sharing your information
We only share personal information with service providers who help us run the website and our business (for example our web host), and only as far as needed. We also share it when the law requires us to. Some of these providers, such as Google, may store information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on providers that offer protection comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. After that it is deleted or de-identified.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, security software and restricted access to our systems.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us:
- whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it;
- to correct or update it;
- to delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
- to stop using it for a particular purpose, or to object to direct marketing.
